How do you ensure the CO2 you offset represents real carbon emission reductions?

All carbon offsets meet third-party certification standards, verification and auditing. The offset projects are verified by SGS International to meet the highest certification standards. Once annually, SGS will perform an audit of our finances and projects to ensure that our carbon offset projects are making real carbon emission reductions.

How do you retire carbon?

We have two processes of retiring carbon from the atmosphere. The first is an afforestation project; planting trees. Through the photosynthesis process, carbon dioxide is absorbed by the trees and then released as oxygen into the air. The second is, not contributing additional carbon int o the air. We support power production through renewable energy such as hydro, solar, and wind power. These replace the energy need produced form coal burning power plants, meaning that they are taken out of circulation forever.

How does reducing carbon in China help us?

CO2 is a large contributor to climate change. Carbon dioxide as a pollutant does not affect the local area where it is emitted. It is carried around the world and affects the entire world. The United Nations recognized this and introduced The UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC or FCCC) is an international environmental treaty produced at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), informally known as the Earth Summit, held in Rio de Janeiro from 3 to 14 June 1992. The objective of the treaty is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.

Under the program, CO2 reductions anywhere around the world will benefit everyone.

By reducing a ton of CO2 in China, we achieve the same benefits as reducing a ton of CO2 here in Canada. A ton = A ton.

The cost and types of trees plays a large factor in deciding to support projects overseas. We only plant Eucalyptus trees. They are one of the best and most effective trees at fighting pollution in the world; they grow quickly and only survive in tropical environments.
